Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water System troubles? Getting poor flow or great flow at first and then it slows to a trickle. Maybe water keeps running to the drain? With all these pipes how do you even start to trouble shoot the thing? I’m going to show you how to troubleshoot and repair your RO system for your family starting right now! Whether you’re a DIY homeowner, plumber or water treatment professional I’m going to show you the process to troubleshoot and fix an RO. Troubleshooting first requires you to know how these systems work to clean up your drinking water. Admittedly they’re a little complex so if you’re not sure check out this YouTube video of mine   • HOW does a REVERS...   Also, you will be disconnecting the tubing during the process so if you aren’t sure how, check out this YouTube video of mine to learn how   • How to use Quick ...   No Water – Could be a multitude of things, everything from supply concerns to clogged or defective filters 1) Do you have a leak stop installed on your RO system? If so check to make sure it hasn’t triggered first! More info here   • Reverse Osmosis D...   2) If this is a new installation or you have recently emptied the tank (realizing that the tank is a bladder tank and it’s ½ full of air and ½ full of water) the tank will need several hours to fill and it will take most of that time to build up pressure. So be patient because there will be very little flow at first! 3) When was the last time you replaced the filters and the membrane? If more than a year for the filters and 5 for the membrane start there! Find them herehttps://waterestore.ca/products/goldl... 4) Check the Leak Stop if you have one, to make sure water is getting through.https://waterestore.ca/products/guard... 5) Check the product water flow coming from the faucet with the tank shut off to make sure it is consistent with specifications. After you start getting a steady drip, measure the amount of water you get in 60 seconds. 6) Check the flow coming from the drain line against approximate specifications. 7) Check your feed water pressure with a pressure gauge like this, it should be at least 30 psi. 8) Shut off the supply and tank, open the faucet to release pressure and disconnect tubing going to inlet. Open supply, is there any water slowly coming out? 9) Start at the beginning and check the flow before and after every component Water slows to a trickle after very little use – usually the cause is the tank has lost it’s pre charge This YouTube video of mine shows you how   • Reverse Osmosis T...   Water Continuously flows to the drain – typically this means that the Automatic Shut Off or ASO is not shutting off the flow when the tank is full. Replacement ASO is herehttps://waterestore.ca/products/rever... The ASO needs to have the membrane, flow restrictor, tank and check valve all operating correctly. I have a video that goes through the whole troubleshooting here   • Reverse Osmosis T...   Or you may need a new check valve, available herehttps://waterestore.ca/products/john-... .Noisy gurgle sound – often caused by too much water running to drain or an installation problem Be sure to install drain saddle on the horizontal as this minimizes noise. Taste, odor or scale buildup in kettle or coffeemaker – Typically caused by filters or membrane requiring replacement or the system needing disinfection. Check out my RO disinfection video here   • HOW to CLEAN RO S...   Leaks from fittings – usually caused by a compromise of the connection between the pipe and the fitting. 1) Be sure that the tubing is inserted all of the way. 2) Tubing does not leave the fitting straight but has a severe bend to it causing the leak.https://waterestore.ca/products/rever...
