Why do some water softeners have gravel in with the media and some don’t? Generally speaking, if your water softener has a media tank that is 12 inches in diameter or bigger, there should be gravel inside the tank to stabilize the riser tube. Typically if your water softener is smaller than 12” in diameter it won’t need to handle the higher flow rates and to some degree flow rate fluctuations that occur with the larger tanks. But that isn’t always the case. Most commercial water softeners, even ones smaller than 12” have gravel in the tank to stabilize that riser tube. Our HUM Residential Water Softeners only have gravel for the 12” tank size and larger. BUT, all of our 10” iron filters have gravel. What about yours? Well, the only way you know for sure is by asking the manufacturer or by dumping out the media and having a look! Check out our Clack Water Softeners Herehttps://waterestore.ca/search?type=pr...
