Your water jugs should be disinfected every 6 months or so to make sure that no one gets sick from bacteria that could be growing in your water jugs. Just follow this simple procedure:

1) Add 1 cup of rice, one squirt of dishwashing liquid, and a gallon of tap water.

2) Shake for 30 seconds, dump out, and rinse away soap.

3) Refill with 1 tablespoon of bleach and one gallon of tap water.

4) Put on the cap and shake for about 30 seconds.

5) Let sit overnight to kill all the bacteria.

6) Remove the cap, drain, and rinse with tap water.

7) Leave upside down to drain and air dry.
